Homemade Paint - MARS ART CAMP Activity 6

Hi everyone! Welcome to week three of Mars Art Camp. I hope you have tried out some of the activities and are having some fun! If you haven't yet, please join us at the facebook group for daily activities, tutorials, and a welcoming creating community!

In our last activity, we made paintings without a paintbrush. Now I'm here to teach you how to make a painting if you don't have any paint!

Materials

This is a super simple home-made paint with only 4 ingredients:

Flour

Water

Salt

Food Dye/Coloring

Steps

1: combine equal parts flour, water, and salt (I used 1/2 cup of each)

2: divide into containers and add a few drops of food coloring to each

3: Paint!

Note: This paint does have some limitations, but it also has some extra special features like a beautiful texture and shimmer.

TIP: If you are struggling to paint something with a paintbrush, dip some cardboard from a tp roll into the paint and make circles with it, use a Qtip to paint dots, or scratch into the surface of the paint with the back of your paintbrush.

This is NOT an edible paint, because it is not safe to consume raw flour. However, you can make an edible paint with the following recipe: Tinker Lab Edible Paint
