HEY EVERYONE! WELCOME TO THE SECOND #MARSMISSIONMONDAY ! THIS ACTIVITY IS FOR APPROXIMATELY AGES 2-5!
Mars Mission 2: Movement Marks
Today's Mars Mission is dedicated to Ashley for being so supportive of Mars Art Camp! Thank you! I hope Bash loves this kinesthetic activity.
In this mission, we use total body (gross-motor) movement to learn how to make the basic marks that makeup almost every picture. With these marks mastered, you can draw almost anything! Let's get moving!
You will need:
Paper or surface to make marks on (bigger the better)
Something to make marks with! Paint, pencil, marker, crayon, ANYTHING!
1. Follow along with the video below to make the following motions + corresponding marks on the page!
Jump up and down = line up and down (vertical)
Shake head no = lines side to side (horizontal)
Spin in a circle = circles/spirals
Wiggle Arms = wavy line
Form a zig-zag with arms/body = zig zag
2. Draw a picture using your new marks. It can be totally abstract and layered.
3. Extensions: come up with your own body movements and the marks that go with them!
