TURN YOUR HANDWRITING INTO A FONT

STEP ONE:

go to www.calligraphr.com and create a new account, it's free.

STEP TWO:

choose your language and download the template.

STEP THREE:

If you are working digitally, open it in Procreate or a similar program that will allow you to fill in the template.

If you want to do it by hand, print out the template!

STEP FOUR:

Fill out the capital, lowercase, and symbol boxes in the template. If you need help check out the FAQ page here .

STEP FIVE:

Go to the "My fonts" tab in Calligraphr and select "Upload Template".

If you did it by hand, you can scan or take a picture of the paper with your phone. Just make sure you keep all four corners within the image.

If you worked in Procreate, save the completed page as a .PNG or .JPG file to upload.

You can edit each letter's size and position at this time.

STEP SIX:

Download your font in .ttf and .otf format. Your font is ready to be imported anywhere you want to use your new font! So far I have imported the font to Procreate, Wix, and Canva with no problems.

Bonus Tips: IGTV video

In this video, you will learn how to use Procreate to your advantage by

  • Using the drawing grid

  • Using layers and lowering the opacity to trace certain letterforms for consistency (O+Q+G+C // MNH // pq --- see what I am getting at?)

  • Using the Transform/Flip tools for some shortcuts on creating your font (a b is just a d that got ahead of itself!)
